12-23-2017 – A Word to the Wise: According to scripture, eight days after Jesus’ birth He is taken to the Temple and is circumcised. The presentation at the Temple occurs on the ninth of November. Joseph, having been warned in a dream and having purchased necessary supplies, leaves for Egypt.

12-21-2017 – A Word to the Wise: This was a necessity since at this point it may be presumed that Joseph and Mary were fairly poor.

12-20-2017 – A Word to the Wise: The magi’s arrival on 7 October bringing gifts for the new born child provides the funds necessary for the coming journey.

12-19-2017 – A Word to the Wise: Tabernacle being a literal translation of the word in the text. The Feast of Tabernacles in 2/1 B.C. occurred on October seventh of that year. This would be five months before the death of Herod.

12-18-2017 – A Word to the Wise: Scripture gives us a clue as to the specific day of the year when one considers the Feast of the Jews as instructed by God to Moses. John 1:14 states “The word became flesh and Tabernacled among us.”

12-16-2017 – A Word to the Wise: It must be assumed that the two years is based on the length of time from the appearance of the star in the heavens observed by the magi unto their arrival before Herod.

12-15-2017 – A Word to the Wise: Matthew 2:13ff reveals that Herod went back two years from the visit of the Magi to kill all the infants in that region.

12-14-2017 – A Word to the Wise:  1 B.C. is in line with Luke 3:23 when the text states Jesus was about 30 years of age when he began his ministry.

12-13-2017 – A Word to the Wise: New calculations reveal that in 1 B.C. there was a total eclipse of the moon over Jerusalem. This makes more sense than the one occurring in 4 B.C. because a total eclipse would be perceived as a major event in that time.

12-12-2017 – A Word to the Wise: While the lunar eclipse of 4 B.C. seemed correct new information reveals that that particular event was only a partial (25%) eclipse.
