Church Security Seminar
A seminar designed to provide low cost, professional training for the development of a Church Security program.
Violence in churches and places of worship has been taking place since the first century. In the early days of the Church, Christians would meet in hidden places and had watchmen at the door to protect worshippers. Christians would use symbols and diagrams to prove their loyalty to Jesus. Today, violence in churches is on the rise and church leaders are looking for ways to improve their ability to respond to these threats. Are you ready if it happens in your church?
Recent Church Attacks:
April 7, 2009–Gunman kills one and injures three during an attack at a Christian Retreat Camp, near Temecula, California.
March 8, 2009–A man entered a church in Maryville, Ill. and shot and killed the pastor, Rev. Fred Winters, during a service at the First Baptist Church of Maryville. He then pulled out a knife and stabbed himself and two others.
February 18, 2009–A man entered the Crystal Cathedral, handed a note to the greeter, knelt in front of the cross and fatally shot himself in the head.
July 27, 2008–Gunman opens fire, killing two, during children’s play in Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
December 09, 2007–Man kills two at YWAM in Arvada, Co. Several hours later he kills two teenage girls at New Life Church in Colorado Springs before being confronted by Church Security and shot.
These events, and others, have brought forward the urgency for churches to equip “Watchmen” and “Gatekeepers” to respond to threats aimed at their congregation. The Church Security Seminar will train, educate, and prepare individuals on the basic needs for the safety of your church. Dr. Stettheimer has over 30 yrs of law enforcement experience and will utilize this training to ensure you have step-by-step techniques to strengthen your Church Security and protect your congregation.
